Print and Paste was formed by Micah Purnell, Nick Chaffe, Daniel Jones, Jim Ralley and myself. The purpose was to take a disused billboard and invite artists, designers, creatives, photographers and illustrators to submit work to be printed and pasted.
As part of the project I contacted Anthony Burrill about submitting a piece and we began to discuss various ways in which his work would lend itself to the board.
Working closely with Liam Hopkins at Lazerian the idea to create oversized wooden letterpress blocks was developed. These blocks were then used to create a series of posters, one of each was used to produce what we believe to be perhaps the world's largest letterpress poster.
Titled 'North & South' the concept was a nod to Anthony's upbringing in the North but subsequent career in the South. Plus the letters were crafted in the North, yet printed in the South.
